far the richest
jewel in the crown of Cyprus and head towards the majestic Troodos Mountains - the green heart of our Island. Pass
preserved picturesque villages that have remained untouched for over one hundred years and where Cypriot
hospitality is always at its
best. The highlight is undoubtedly is the Kykkos Monastery, rich, daunting and priceless.
Marvel at the silver and bronze icons,
frescoes and hanging gold chandeliers. The late Archbishop Makarios first president of
the Republic of Cyprus who died in 1977 chose to
be buried at the nearby Monastery at Throni. He chose this spot for its beauty
and tranquility and where the views last forever.
On our way back we will allow a short stop at Troodos Square with an optional
visit at the environmental centre.
